PAT TIBERI AGAIN STANDS UP TO PROTECT HIS WALL STREET BACKERS

Jul 01, 2010

Congressman Tiberi refuses to hold Wall Street Bankers accountable by voting against Wall Street Reform

COLUMBUS, OH— Last night, Pat Tiberi once again put his Wall Street backers ahead of the middle class families and small businesses in central Ohio.  Congressman Tiberi voted against H.R. 4173, the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which contained key consumer protections for Central Ohio families and businesses, but only after he voted to bail out these very Wall Street banks without enough protections for Central Ohio consumers and taxpayers.

“Pat Tiberi needs to stand up and tell middle class families and small businesses in central Ohio why he is putting the needs of his Wall Street backers ahead of their needs,” said Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks, who is running for Congress in the 12th Congressional District.  “We lost good-paying jobs here in central Ohio because Wall Street firms like Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers put personal greed ahead of the good of America, and now Pat Tiberi is protecting these bad actors.”

“Now, more than ever, we need to change the way Wall Street does business.  I support the critical financial reform bill because it is an essential step to reining in unbridled greed on Wall Street, rebuilding our economy, and bringing good paying, sustainable jobs back to central Ohio.  In Congress, I will stand up for everyday central Ohio small businesses on Main Street, not big shots on Wall Street."
